Artist Statement
Finally, I started painting what I had carried inside for so long — pain that over time grew quieter, but never disappeared completely.
Earlier there was the series “Adulthood” — about growing up without fairy-tale happy endings: learning to stand on your own, allowing tenderness to live alongside grief, and finding a light.
Then came “Human in the City” — the same feeling, but in cramped, overcrowded places. Where being seen can feel like being erased, where solitude hides inside the crowd, and the search for your own voice never really ends.
Doll's Halo is where I’ve arrived now. Six paintings about living under someone else’s gaze — even when no one is watching. Pink halos don’t shine — they press down. First shared with others, then alone, then already inside you. It’s the moment when a role stops being a game and becomes everything you have. You hold on to another woman, balance on a ball, watch hope float up and away or drag along the ground on a string. In the end you’re left alone — with frills, bows, a silly crown, and a halo you can’t take off.
