Artist Statement
My artistic journey is a continuous reflection on the transformation of identity and space. For years, I explored the human figure and the psychological weight of social roles. The series "Adulthood," "Human in the City," and "Doll’s Halo" were vital stages in this exploration, where I used symbolism and figurative art to examine the boundary between the external mask and the internal self. These works remain a living part of my practice—a form of dialogue with both personal and collective history.
Today, my focus has shifted from the individual to the environment that shapes them. The "Architecture of Memory" series is a composite archetype of the European city, a synthesis of my observations and travels. I do not paint specific topographical locations; rather, I am drawn to the metaphysics of old facades and what they conceal. To me, windows and arches act as portals to the stories of strangers that have layered within these walls over decades.
Working with a palette knife, I "excavate" these structures onto the canvas, capturing moments where stone meets ephemerality. The combination of sharp, decisive lines and spontaneous drips of paint reflects the very nature of memory—it is never static; it flows, dissolves, and re-emerges through time, much like light flickering in an ancient alleyway.
